Construction SWPPP Requirements

Operators of most construction activities within Doña Ana County are required to prepare a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP). This is the same SWPPP which the Environmental Protection Agency requires for construction activity. The SWPPP must be submitted to the County for review a minimum of 30 days before disturbing any land. For Subdivisions, the SWPPP must be included with the Final Subdivision Plan submittal. The SWPPP requirements are in Section 9 of the County’s Storm Water Management Ordinance.

The construction activity may also be required to submit a Notice of Intent to the EPA. Read more about EPA’s permit and requirements for construction activity.

Low Impact Development

LID is an approach to land development (or re-development) that works with nature to manage stormwater as close to its source as possible.

Visit the EPA's LID page for more information.
